Wintering the Oaks (6, 10, or 16 Miles) Presented by Ridge and River

Lace up your boots and immerse yourself in the beauty of the season! Join ‘Wintering the Metroparks’ for a unique monthly hike at Providence, Oak Openings Preserve, and Glass City Metroparks. Sign up for one or all three and make lasting memories on the frosted trails- it’s an adventure for all ages. These events are held in partnership with Toledo Roadrunners Club.

The first 200 participants who sign up for all three hikes will receive a limited edition commemorative winter hat. S’mores and other fun activities at each event will help shake off the cold-weather blahs.

Take a step toward your fitness goals by signing up for Metroparks Trail Challenge and earn a special ‘Wintering the Metroparks’ sticker. Join the Trail Challenge community to set goals, hike, and experience the best Metroparks Toledo has to offer.

This registration signs you up for Wintering the Oaks (6, 10, or 16 Miles)
Join us and fellow outdoor enthusiasts to hike the Scout Trail through the incredible Oak Openings Region, one of the last great places on earth according to the Nature Conservancy. Pick between the 6, 10, or 16 mile hikes.

The 10 mile course will take you on the north side of the Scout Trail and utilize the Wabash Cannonball Trail. (10.44 miles)
The 16 mile course will take you on one of the true long distance hikes in the area and hike the whole Scout Trail. (16.54 miles)

Meet at Oak Openings Preserve Metropark, HEAVY Wheelhouse.

8:00 AM, Check-in for 10 and 16 mile hikes
8:30 AM, Start for 10 and 16 mile hike
9:00-10:00 AM, Check-in for 6 mile hike
10:00-11:00 AM, Rolling start for 6 mile hike
10:00 AM-3:00 PM, S’mores and hot chocolate. Coffee, beer, and snacks available to purchase at HEAVY Wheelhouse.

• Pre-registration is $10 per person for those aged 5+. Ages 4 and under are free. Pre-registration ends on 2/16/24 at noon.
• Day-of registration will increase to $15 per person--credit card only.

This event runs rain, snow, or shine! Please dress for the weather and wear appropriate footwear. Minors must be accompanied by an adult for the duration of the program. Participants must bring their own filled reusable water bottle and snacks for their hike. 16 mile hikers should have previous hiking experience and need to be back before sunset. The 16 mile hike will cancel if there is a significant amount of snow. These 6, 10 and 16 mile hikes do not include shuttle service.
