Blue Week: Blue Creek Glade State Nature Preserve Walk (Adults and 12+)

The Blue Creek limestone glade is considered a globally significant ecosystem and consists of approximately 11 acres of limestone prairie, sparsely vegetated sand barrens, and thin-soiled Chinquapin Oak savanna. This site, sits on top of Devonian-age, dolomitic limestone bedrock and is adjacent to ancient Oak Openings sand deposits, providing a unique environment for botanical rarities to thrive. Present day restoration efforts have revealed many hidden gems which led to its recent ODNR dedication as the 145th state nature preserve. This walk will highlight this special site’s unique history and the wildlife species that now thrive as a result of Metroparks commitment to habitat preservation. Due to the sensitive nature of this site, spaces are limited; registration required.

Meet at Blue Creek Nona France, Park at the soccer field, closest to the corner of Schadel and Stiles Rds.
